Hello. My name is Lauren Michelle.
I’m a 30-something introverted homebody with a love for books, storytelling, and creative pursuits. I’ve been a reader from a young age—so young that I used to memorize my favorite books before I could properly read and recite them back to myself as I flipped the pages.
This may be why I’ve always had a penchant for expressing myself through writing. I’ve been published only twice, have started and abandoned many stories and books, crafted handfuls of bad poetry and song lyrics, and always have a notebook on rotation (though, sadly, I don’t journal nearly as much as I’d like to these days.)
I graduated from the University of South Carolina in 2012 with a BA in English and a concentration in writing (of course). My parents wanted me to take the teaching track, but I just wanted to read books and write about books and maybe even write my own books someday. I had zero interest in becoming a teacher, though I did receive a cognate in library science and considered becoming a librarian at one point. I almost did get my master’s in English a couple of years after graduating college, until I realized I wasn’t particularly passionate about academia. I’ve also been weary of turning anything I love as a creative outlet into a job, though I’ve certainly tried in the past.
During the day, I work in financial services but my passion has always been words and stories. Though I do have a special affinity for photography. I’ve owned a few cameras in my life, but my preferred lens, for better or worse, continues to be whatever iPhone I’m using at the time. Currently, I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max and, yes, I still edit my photos with VSCO (mostly).
I’ve had stories published in Spry Literary Journal and the Doctor TJ Eckleburg Review.
If you’re creatively scatterbrained, want to talk books or trade photo editing techniques, then you can reach me at hello@laurenmichellebrock.com.
Thank you for stopping by!
